With much anticipation leading up to the weekend, recently Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry declared Sunday, April 25, as the Norman Music Festival Day and urged all citizens to consider attending the music festival with friends and family to help grow the tourism and economy in the state of Oklahoma.

It is very cool and exceptionally humbling to have a day officially known as Norman Music Festival Day and to be recognized by Governor Henry,” says Quentin Bomgardner, committee chair for the Norman Music Festival. “

The proclamation states:

Whereas, arts and culture flourish alongside academia and sports within the City of Norman; and

Whereas, as a result of the 2009 Norman Music Festival 2.5million new monies were generated for Norman, and the surrounding communities; and

Whereas, Norman is currently involved in a downtown revitalization project that will guide Norman and its citizens into the 21st century; and

Whereas, The City of Norman is known as the City of Festivals by the State of Oklahoma

Whereas, Norman has strong sense of community, a high quality of life and affordability, and appreciation for diversity, the arts and culture; and

Whereas, Norman was the first city in the State of Oklahoma to offer a free independent music festival for all ages to enjoy;

Now, therefore, I, Brad Henry, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, do hereby proclaim April 25, 2010, as

“Norman Music Festival Day”

in the State of Oklahoma, and urge all citizens of Oklahoma to consider attending this festival with friends and family and help grow the tourism and economy in the State of Oklahoma.

  1. I hate you idiots on Friday 23, 2010

You can’t even spell ‘quiet’ in your response prompt.

The governor probably approved it so there would be at least one day in the year when he knew where all the people on the sex offender registry and the meth addicts were.

I saw it. What a collection of human garbage and lousy music.

2.5 million my ass. Its going to take 5 million bucks worth of state sponsored penicillin just to swell the tide of STDs from the festival of filth.

The bloody light poles were sticky!!!!

You lied to the property owners. You got false signatures on your petition you didn’t clean up after yourselves. You kept every human with a real job up blasting pointless self indulgent simian caterwauling all night.

I will stop you revolting clowns next year if it puts a hair-lip on the Pope.

it’s funny to see someone that didn’t have a great time at the NMF3 has to complain publicly to make sure that they are heard. we had a great time! my kid was so pleased to play and listen to music. i even heard someone call norman a little slice of heaven. if you saw it then you must have been close enough to be included by someone in the crowd that you so affectionately referred to as human garbage…i hope you can take your grouchy glasses off and have a great day despite of the anger you have in your heart for this great community. a whole bunch of people had a whole bunch of fun and we should thank the arts council and the local main street businesses for providing that to us. i’ll say i am proud that governor henry decided to proclaim something great about norman- it is a great city. keep on keepin on. i’ll be back. and i will bring more friends. and we will all sleep in your hotels and eat in your restaurants and buy things at your shops. that’s the 2.5 million dollar impact. huzzah norman arts council! keep up the good work!
