Rick Fry announced his resignation as Executive Director at the June meeting of the Norman Arts Council Board of Directors. Fry joined the NAC in April 2008. He previously had worked in the private sector as a landscape painter.
Fry decided to join the Performing Arts Studio as Executive Director because of its focus as an events centered organizations rather than a programs and grant-giving organization.
“I wanted to have the ability to be more hands-on with events and arts in Norman,” said Fry.
Coming from a background as a full-time artist focusing on landscape painting, the NAC position kept Fry from taking time to visit places like the Wichita Mountains for inspiration.
“Being a part of the PAS gives me more time to focus on my own art.” said Fry.
Fry’s final day as Executive Director of the NAC was June 30th. He began at the PAS on July 1st.
The Norman Arts Council is currently accepting applications for the position of Executive Director. For more information, visit the Jobs page.
