The University of Oklahoma School of Music present guest artists Milton Masciadri, double bass, and accompanied on piano by Ana Flávia Frazão at 6 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 18, in Pitman Recital Hall. This concert is free and open to the public.
Masciadri’s recital will feature the “Arpeggione Sonata” by Franz Schubert and works by Henri Casadesus, Radames Gnatalli and Edmundo Villani Cortes as well as pieces by the double bass virtuosos Giovanni Bottesini and Franco Petracchi.
Masciadri is professor of Double Bass at the University of Georgia, where he has been a member of the music faculty since 1984. Representing the third generation of doublebassists in his family, he was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and begandouble bass studies with his father. By the age of 17, he was co-principal bassist with the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra in Brazil, and at the age of 19 was on the music faculty of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte in Natal, Brazil. Masciadri is a frequent recitalist and soloist with major symphony orchestras in Europe, Asia, North America, Central America and South America.
Brazilian pianist, Frazão, has pursued a highly active career as a chamber music performer, having appeared in concert with renowned musicians in Europe, Japan, North America, Argentina and in various cities across Brazil, to great public and critical acclaim. Frazão is currently professor of piano and chamber music at the School of Music of the Federal University of Goiás in Brazil.
