(Norman, Okla) Feb. 6, 2012- 1964 the Tribute band performs at 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17 and Saturday, Feb. 18 in Sharp Concert Hall. MidLife Crysis will open the show.
1964…the Tribute has been thrilling audiences around the globe by taking them on a journey back to a time when rock concerts were about the music and not exploding fireworks and light shows…a time when suits and ties were the norm and not how little the artist wore…a time when one band changed popular music and society. Over twenty years of researching and performing have made “1964″ masters of their craft. Hailed by critics and fans alike as the most authentic and endearing Beatles tribute, RollingStone magazine labled them “Best Beatles Tribute on Earth” and popular culture icon Dick Clark says, “1964 creates the magic of The Beatles.”
The show is an accurate re-creation of a Beatles’ concert with instruments, suits, and haircuts… down to the Beatle boots! And if the appearance and natural, ‘Beatle-y’ stage presence is not enough, the sound will amaze you. Audiences scream and are either bouncing in their seats or standing, while they sing along to every song in the 2-hour performance.
As part of the evening’s entertainment, a presentation about The Beatles at 6 pm will be held in the Morris R. Pitman Recital Hall. Seating in Pitman Hall is limited to 125 and a ticket for the evening’s concert must be presented for entry. The presentation is given by Beatles author Andy Babiuk (Beatles Gear) and Russ Lease, who will display several authentic items of interest. At 7 pm, in Paul F. Sharp Concert Hall, local band MidLife Crysis will open the concert with an hour of music from the 1960s-70s. 1964…the Tribute takes the stage at 8:15 pm.
Tickets prices are $25 (main floor/side balcony) and $15 (rear balcony) if purchased in advance, and $30 and $20 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the Fine Arts Box Office (405) 325-4101.
