Norman, Okla. – The Sooner Theatre will present Crazy For You, the last of two summer productions starring students in the theatre’s summer production camps, August 2-5, 2012.

The cast of 40 includes 13-18 yr. old students, all of which auditioned for and were selected to perform in the camp. There are six performances of Crazy For You, August 2-5, and the kids will rehearse in camp four hours per day each weekday to put up the show in just three and a half short weeks. Cast members are primarily from the south metro, including Oklahoma City, Moore and Norman.

“I am very excited about our 10^th summer of camp shows! It’s hard to believe where we have come in the last 10 years,” said Jennifer Baker, Sooner Theatre Executive Director. “We have had such an amazing growth in the number of talented kids who vie for spots in this camp, and as a result, our program has grown from one summer show featuring 30 kids 10 years ago to a full year-round program with five productions annually and more than 730 students who took a camp or class last year.”

Thursday, August 2, 7:30 p.m.

Friday & Saturday, August 3 & 4, 2 and 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, August 5, 2 p.m.

Some principle roles are double cast.

“We are so proud of the work these kids do, and they work with professional technical staff, incredible directors and choreographers,” said Baker. “We were able to bring in a guest choreographer who has directed and choreographed professional theatrical productions across the country to help bring this story to life since this show has so many great classic Gershwin song and dance numbers.”

Directed by Mat Govich and choreographed by Stephanie Govich and Stephen Casey, CRAZY FOR YOU^™ is the story of Bobby Child, a well-to-do 1930′s playboy, who’s dream in life is to dance. And despite the serious efforts of his mother and soon-to-be-ex-fiancee, Bobby achieves his dream! Memorable Gershwin tunes include I Can’t Be Bothered Now, Bidin’ My Time, I Got Rhythm, Naughty Baby, They Can’t Take That Away from Me, But Not for Me, Nice Work if You Can Get It, Embraceable You and Someone to Watch Over Me. It’s a high energy comedy which includes mistaken identity, plot twists, fabulous dance numbers and classic Gershwin music.

Tickets are $10 per person and will go on sale to the public beginning Saturday, July 14. Group rates are available for 10 or more tickets to any one performance.
