The Boggess Artist Concert Series kicks off the School of Music fall concert series with a concert by organist Christopher Marks at 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 31, in Gothic Hall. Marks has been hailed for his “style and assurance” in performance, and is quickly gaining a reputation for creative and friendly programming.
“Chris is a wonderfully warm and engaging human being. His playing is of the highest caliber and I believe everyone will enjoy hearing his program. I would encourage all music lovers to attend this concert,” says John Schwandt, director of the American Organ Institute.
The Boggess Artist Concert Series is dedicated to Mildred Andrews Boggess, professor of organ at the University of Oklahoma from 1938 to 1976, who taught a generation of organists the highest standards of their art. A generous bequest from her estate allowed the installation of the Mildred Andrews Boggess Memorial Organ in Kerr Gothic Hall.
All Boggess Series performances are in OU’s Catlett Music Center, 500 W. Boyd, in your OU Arts District! Tickets for Boggess Series events are $9 for adults and $5 for students, faculty, staff and senior adults. For tickets and up-to-date information call the Fine Arts Box Office at (405) 325-4101.
