John G. Morris Reading at Second Sunday Poetry
John Graves Morris, Professor of English at Cameron University, will be the featured reader at the Second Sunday Poetry Reading on September 9 in the Norman Depot, 200 S Jones.  The free reading begins at 2:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Morris is the author of Noise and Stories (Plain View Press, 2008).  His poems have appeared recently or are forthcoming  in Acreage JournalCybersoleilThe Concho River ReviewElegant Rage: A Poetic Tribute to Woody Guthrie, and Westview.   “John Morris is a poet whose readings at the Scissortail Festival in Ada and at the Performing Arts Studio have pleased audiences with the fineness of his perception and the clarity and range of subjects.” says Second Sunday Poetry host Carl Sennhenn.  “Noise and Stories is a fine collection of poems.”

Morris himself  tells us he is “kid tested and mother approved. He won’t dance, don’t ask him, he does not speak Text, he has eschewed rapping although he will give rip rapping a try to prevent erosion, and he is kind to strangers and pets.”

Enjoy the paintings of Stephen Smith while in the Depot Gallery for the poetry reading.

Depot Gallery and Performing Arts Studio hours are Monday-Friday from 8 am to 2 pm.  For additional information about PAS programs, visit www.pasnorman.org or phone 405-307-9320.
