The University of Oklahoma School of Art & Art History is proud to welcome, “Headshot: A Portfolio Exhibition” to the Lightwell Gallery. The portfolio consists of a collection of prints by various American artists and includes prints by both Marwin Begaye, an OU printmaking professor, and Katy Seals, a recent graduate of the OU School of Art & Art History’s M.F.A. program. The portfolio was organized by Bill Fick, an artist and educator living in North Carolina and one of the most influential relief print artists in the country, and Tim Dooley, an artist and professor of printmaking at Northern Iowa University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Headshot will be on display from Monday, Aug. 20 through Monday, Sept. 10 in the Lightwell Gallery at the School of Art & Art History. A free, public reception will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, August 24.
“Headshot is one of the best and most complete portfolios of top-level contemporary American printmakers,” said Curtis Jones, OU Printmaking Professor. “All artists represented in the portfolio are active working artists and many are printmaking educators at some of the best schools and universities in the country.”
Jones is excited, “both art students and the public get to visit the gallery to see representative samples of work by many of the best printmakers currently working in the United States, including OU printmaking faculty and recent OU grad, Katy Seals.”
The University of Oklahoma’s Lightwell Gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and is located on the second floor of the School of Art & Art History in the Fred Jones Art Center (FJC), 520 Parrington Oval, in the OU Arts District.
