Welcome to Norman Arts Council

For Volunteers

The Norman Arts Council has an extra storage facility that needs to be organized and cleaned out. Currently the facility is costing the NAC $1,000 and we would like to see the money go towards programs and operations.Volunteers will sort through paper, art supplies, office supplies and other various materials. Any materials that can be donated will be.

This is a great opportunity to support the Norman Arts Council through valuable time and effort without donating money.

Please contact Holly for more information or other volunteer opportunities.

Chamber Accepting Arts Grant Proposals

The Norman Chamber of Commerce's Business & Arts Committee is calling for proposals for a wide range of arts and humanities projects that are specifically designed to appeal to Norman residents and visitors. Applicants do not have to be a 501(c)3 to qualify for this opportunity. Any arts organization, individual, or business that is a Chamber member is a qualified applicant.

The arts organization, individual, or business must partner with another Chamber member for this grant. The objective of the matching grant program is to foster strong partnerships between the business and arts communities. Applicants must be members of the Norman Chamber of Commerce and current within thirty days on their membership dues with the Chamber. Those organizations making successful proposals will be awarded grants of up to $500 from the committee.

"Norman has wonderful opportunities for arts events, and the Chamber wants to support them through funds raised by the 'On My Own Time' Employee Art Show," said Amy Wood, committee chair. "With businesses and arts organizations working side-by-side, we hope to see new events cultivated while others are strengthened."

If your organization is eligible and would like to apply for a grant, applications are available from the Chamber office located at 115 E. Gray, OK 73069. You may also phone the Chamber at 321-7260 or email kristi.cain@normanchamber.com to request application materials. Grant applications are due to the Chamber by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 2.

Norman's Performing Arts Studio (PAS) is kicking off its first membership drive.

The nonprofit organization, founded in the fall of 2003 with a mission to create and present excellent and innovative fine arts programs for the enrichment and education of our community, is located in Norman's historic Santa Fe Train Depot, 200 South Jones Avenue.

PAS programs offered to the Norman community include Summer Breeze Concerts, Winter Wind Concerts, Gallery Exhibitions, Second Sunday Poetry Readings, and Radio Theater Live.

"Grants from the Norman Arts Council, OKlahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts provide a base of financial support for our programs," said Executive Director Nancy McClellan, "and The City of Norman provides our Depot home. Rental of the Depot for weddings, parties and meetings helps fund operating expenses. Individual and Corporate Sponsorships make it possible for the very popular Summer Breeze Concerts, attended by thousands, to remain free to the public, and for Winter Wind Concerts and Fallery exhibitions to feature outstanding artists. Funding remains tight, however, and membership dollars will help keep PAS and our programs financially healthy."

A schedule of membership categories and benefits are included in a brochure available at the Depot, the Norman Public Library and Norman Arts Council. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Information is also available at www.thepas.org or by calling PAS at (405) 307-9320.
