The Sudden Opportunity Support category provides funds for arts and humanities projects planned less than one year in advance or between the Norman Arts Council's annual organizational grant cycle. A wide range of arts and humanities projects specifically designed to appeal to Norman residents as well as visitors can qualify for SOS funds. Applicants must be incorporated non-profit organizations located in Norman and all projects must occur in Norman in an ADA compliant venue.
Funds for Sudden Opportunity Support Grant Awards come from Organizational Grant monies that have been declined by an organization or otherwise forfeited. SOS grants up to the amount of $2000 may be awarded contingent on the availability of Norman Arts Council (NAC) funds and on the viability of the application.
The grant application must be submitted with sufficient time for evaluation before the project begins, typically 60-90 days in advance. The NAC Grants Committee will meet to evaluate the grant proposal prior to its monthly Board of Directors meeting.
The NAC does not award grants to individual artists, but encourages artists to collaborate with non-profit organizations that may apply for Sudden Opportunity Support grants.
