SOONER DECORATIVE ARTISTS OF NORMAN is one of 3 chapters in Oklahoma (300 worldwide) of the National Society of Decorative Painters. The group's purpose is to preserve old and new examples of Tole work and to preserve old painting traditions while embracing all new painting techniques. The group has made ornaments and tree skirts for the Clinton, Gore and Keating Christmas trees. Most recently, the group painted Noah's Ark Wall Mural at the First Christian Church in Moore. Local members have won contests, published and sold books and pattern packets, and created original design for the classes they teach. The group's special project is The Good Shepherd Hospice. Membership dues are $15 per year and meetings are held on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
