Artist In Residence Open Call
Regensburg, Germany
Sister City
Residency from September 21 - November 13 2026
Application Due: June 22, 2026
The charming City of Regensburg invites an artist from its partner cities within the International Network of Michelin Cities (INMC) for a two months residence along the Danube River.
-
The INMC was inaugurated in 2017 by the City of Clermont-Ferrand to boost joint
reflections and collaborative projects between cities from all over the world. At a
time when environmental, social, digital and cultural challenges are emerging
worldwide, the INMC fosters innovation and creativity to take the lead in the
transition towards sustainable development.

Regensburg, a southeastern city in Bavaria, Germany, is known for its medieval town
centre and Danube River location. With around 179,000 inhabitants, it blends
modern and traditional influences, partly due to its university. Highlights include the
12th-century Stone Bridge, Gothic cathedral, and an Italian flair in its cafés and
colourful houses.
-
Last autumn the Cultural Office launched a new programme which is called “RAiR.
Regensburg Arts-in-Residence” that promotes international exchange between artists.
Two new charming studio apartments in a historic building in the heart of Regensburg’s
old town are available for this purpose. Located directly on the Stone Bridge and thus
along the Danube River, the studio apartments offer plenty of space for art and creativity
in unique surroundings. Numerous galleries and studios are located in the immediate
vicinity. The studio apartments are newly renovated with a fully equipped kitchen, a
bathroom and a bedroom as well as a living and working studio area. Artists with families
are welcome to apply, as the Cultural Office is aiming to ensure a child-friendly
environment. Accommodation is paid by the City of Regensburg.
-
Artists from all disciplines are free in their work and are invited to engage with
Regensburg. The residence includes an artist talk and a participatory format that
involves the citizens of Regensburg.
