My work initiates from the process of change. I have always been interested in the emotions that surge in life when I deal with ‘ends’ and ‘beginnings’, and the struggle between these feelings - which can come from a place of love or a place of fear.
I work with fibers, favoring wool and cotton, using techniques that generate a cultural connection with my country and my roots. In my pieces I tend to show fibers pushing themselves through, in what seems to be an effort to be seen.
Currently I am working on a series about nostalgia, specifically about the memories that I carry with me of something that no longer exists. The year 2020 brought me a new meaning to living away from home - I realized that I can let go and grow, while still carrying with me a “perfect” memory.
The objective of my work is to highlight the struggle of facing change, as well as understanding the value of it.

Cristina is a Dallas-based fiber artist whose work intricately weaves together her background in design with her passion for textiles. Born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, Cristina holds a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design with a minor in fashion design from Universidad de Monterrey. It was during her time living on the East Coast that she discovered her love for fiber art and began exploring techniques that would later become integral to her artistic expression.
In 2020, Cristina shifted her focus to her art practice and began showing work locally in cultural centers. In 2023, she was part of Cohort 4 at The Cedars Union art incubator program, during this time she exhibited at Bath House Cultural Center, Arts Fort Worth, Lone Gallery and Galleri Urbane among other spaces in Dallas and Fort Worth, TX. More recently she exhibited work at the Aspen Art Fair in Aspen, CO and at Espace Commines in Paris, France. She has implemented art activities for families as a guest artist at the Nasher Sculpture Center. Cristina currently works as a Communications Manager at a contemporary art gallery.
Drawing inspiration from her Mexican heritage, Cristina’s work is characterized by a vibrant fusion of traditional techniques and contemporary design. Through the use of natural fibers and intuitive weaving, she creates pieces that evoke a sense of nostalgia and change.
